Virginia Duals-Day Two Through 9 p.m.

HAMPTON, VA-- The Bloomsburg University wrestling team won two and lost one on the second and final day of the Virginia Duals.

In the first match of the day the Huskies easily beat Virginia Tech, 33-6, in the consolation bracket. Bloomsburg won the first six bouts to go up by a 24-0. Among the Huskies eight wins in the match were two by fall. Darren Kern posted his pin in 2:16, while heavyweight Mike Spaid got a pin in 53 seconds. For Spaid it is his second pin of the season in less then a minute.

In the day's second match, the Huskies beat Arizona State out of the PAC-10, 32-10. The Huskies got pins from Matt Moley and Spaid, again in less than a minute, along with major decisions from both Mike Sees and Ricky Donald in the victory over the Sun Devils.

In the consolation semi-finals, the Huskies lost to Kent State, 25-12. The match was closer than the score with Bloomsburg losing five matches by three or less points. The Huskies did get wins from Ricky Schmelyum, by fall, and decisions from Sees and Spaid.

Bloomsburg, 7-7, was scheduled to face Rider University in the fifth place match late Saturday night.
